Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a chattel mortgage and a consumer car loan?

+

A consumer car loan is for personal use vehicles under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act. A chattel mortgage is a commercial product for business use vehicles, where the business owns the car and may claim GST and depreciation. The right product depends on how the vehicle is used.

Can I get a car loan if I am self employed?

+

Yes. Chattel mortgages typically use ABN, GST registration and bank statements rather than payslips. Low doc options exist for established businesses. Consumer car loans for self employed borrowers require standard income evidence such as tax returns or accountant declarations.

What car finance rates are available in Australia?

+

Consumer car loan rates typically range from around 6.5% to 12% p.a. depending on credit profile, vehicle age and loan term. Commercial chattel mortgage rates for strong ABNs are commonly 7–10% p.a. Rates change with the RBA and lender appetite; we quote live.

Do you finance used cars?

+

Yes. We finance new and used vehicles up to a maximum age at end of term (usually 10–15 years) depending on the lender. Dealer and private sale purchases are both supported.

How long does approval take?

+

Straightforward consumer or chattel mortgage applications are commonly approved same day or within 24–48 hours. Complex or non conforming files take longer.
